Although in recent weeks and months the topic of the electoral campaign for the presidency of the United States of America is constantly being discussed, it is timely to insist on the need that every detail or argument that can be used to underline the importance of this campaign be used so that, as far as possible, the people – the whole nation – become familiar with the characteristics of the Republican candidates, who are the ones vying now for their party’s nomination. It is important that significant issues affecting them not be discovered when it be too late. Registered Republican voters might feel that – depending on the circumstances – they have to vote for a candidate in the primaries although later on they might discover that he was not the best. Perhaps it is good to remember now and old proverb that says “All that glitters is not gold.”
It is not prudent, or fair in any way, to leave to chance – so to speak – a decision that the citizens should make with a high sense of civic and political responsibility, after a careful study of each candidate’s record.
It is indispensable, more than fitting, to insist on this that has so much to do with the immediate future of the political institutional life of the United States of America. The measures that are taken into consideration now will not necessarily guarantee a good choice in the decision made by each voter. But it indeed can be said that it is an important effort in light of the political realities of the times.
Ever since the founding of the republic, elections have been very important in the United States of America. Naturally, presidential elections are the most important. However, every election, even those at a municipal level, deserves the concern and dedication of each citizen.
Electoral campaigns should be taken seriously. They should not be seen as a political sporting activity, but they should be granted the merit they deserve so that the decisions taken be the outcome of serene and patriotic analysis as far as this be possible.
