Two Great Puerto Rican Women, Alicia Baró and Ruth Fernández

In an excellent newspaper article, Maurice A. Ferré renowned Puerto Rican personality in the United States, comments on the death, this January, of two extraordinary women whom he calls “Two Angels from Puerto Rico”, which is the title of the mentioned article. Well-deserved is the praise for Ruth Fernández, “The Soul of Puerto Rico Made Song”, whose artistic and civic qualities have always been the pride of Puerto Ricans.

In this interesting and just article by the former Mayor of Miami, Maurice A. Ferré, who has successfully held many important positions in the United States, especially in Florida, is exalted the personality of a great lady who has just passed away in Miami, Alicia Baró, an important figure not only of the Puerto Rican community in Miami, but also of the Spanish-speaking community as a whole. Baró was not only admired by the Puerto Rican and the Latin American community in Florida, but also by all the Anglos who were her friends and who witnessed her achievements as a civic leader.

Unfortunately, important figures of any community die when God’s will so determines. However, their achievements when worthy, as in the case of Alicia Baró, remain as an example for the new generations. Alicia Baró was the founder of the renowned National Association of Puerto Rican Women; she is the only Puerto Rican woman in the Florida Hall of Fame, created by the state government to honor outstanding Floridians. In Miami, Mrs. Baró was president, on several occasions, of the Puerto Rican Democratic Organization, that was an important factor in the unity and coordination of Puerto Ricans in Florida.

DIARIO LAS AMERICAS, commenting about the passing of these two remarkable Puerto Rican women, expresses its condolences to all Puerto Ricans and hails their merits as an example of civic and moral virtues.

(This Saturday, January 28th, at 11 a.m., a religious service will be held at the Assembly of God church, 19701 S.W. 147 Avenue, Cutler Ridge).

Is  the nomination for SALE to the richest  offeror ?  Sadly, It seems to be so. Romney is using the overwhelming force that millions can buy to "just grinding Newt down". Congressmen  and forces in the  GOP establishment have  fanned out across the  state to bring  Gingrich down. BUT  they do not count in " WE THE PEOPLE" we, will level the field !  We will not let  " I think if Romney wins this, it is over  for Newt" John McLaughlin, veteran  Republican Pollster ) WE THE PEOPLE MUST  give the victory to  DESERVING LION  Newt  GINGRICH AND  FORCE THE MONEY MACHINE  to spread  more wealth,  pay more mercenary campaigners and enrich other states. FLORIDIANS- DO NOT "CROWN"  KING WILLIARD ROMNEY  as YET ! LET HIM SPREAD HIS WEALTH a little more , IN MORE STATES  FOR THE GOOD OF ALL. !! THE  POWER TO THE PEOPLE  IS GREATER  THAN  Romney millions !!  DO NOT LET  "Mitt" BUY THE NOMINATION  THIS CHEAP.  Give Newt  the victory and make  "Ken" Romney really spend a few more millions  to  PAY  for the  Doomed Nomination - ( He vill lose to Obama for sure ).  He has  zillions  in  the Cayman Islands and all over the world, although  he claims  HE DID NOT KNOW . Somebody  transferred his millions to a swiss account WITHOUT  letting  him know ! Yeah !

O’Neal Dozier, the conservative black pastor of Pompano Beach’s Worldwide Christian Center said:“Blacks are not going to vote for anyone of the Mormon faith,” Dozier said. “The book of Mormon says the Negro skin is cursed.”...
