Iranian TV in Spanish
for Latin America
Among today’s news, citing Iranian Fars News Agency, is the inauguration of an Iranian TV channel that is transmitting in Spanish for Latin America.
In its issue of January 17th, 2012, DIARIO LAS AMERICAS published an article by the renowned American commentator Cal Thomas entitled “Islamic Television in Spain”.
In that article, Mr. Thomas informed about the inauguration at the end of December of two new satellite TV channels in Spain to transmit in Spain and Latin America. The first one was Hispan TV, whose program content is produced in Iran, and the other one Córdoba TV. One of the programs on Hipan TV is called “Debate Abierto” or “Open Debate” which, according to Soeren Kern, a senior fellow at the Strategic Studies Group in Madrid, will focus on spreading Shiite Islam” in Spain and Latin America.
Mr. Thomas’ article goes on to explain that Córdoba TV which, according to Kern, “is the brainchild of the radical Saudi cleric Abdul Aziz al-Fawzan, the spiritual mentor for one of the Islamists who carried out the terrorist attacks in New York on September 11, 2011,” is owned by the Foundation for the Message of Islam and backed by the Saudi royal family. Its aim, according to Kern, is to propagate”…the extremist Wahhabi sect of Islam.”
Very worrisome for all the countries of the Western Hemisphere and, especially, for the United States of America, should be that Iran be broadcasting in Spanish for Latin American countries, a clear indication of how radical Islam is advancing worldwide. Hispan TV in Latin America is a very effective tool for Iranian infiltration that will try, little by little, to undermine the foundations of democracy in the region.
How should the United States of America respond to this new Iranian attack that is not with weapons but with ideas?
During the Cold War, the United States made effective use of the Voice of America and Radio Liberty to tell the truth to captive nations. But, until now, in the face of this new Iranian threat, the Obama Administration has given no indication that it intends to do anything to counter it. Something has to be done, and soon, to prevent future problems.
