People Should Keep
Abreast About What is
Happening in the World
It is a good thing, not to say that necessary, that there be methodical information about certain political issues and of world security that affect the free world and, particularly, the United States of America.
Here, in America, there are many who have some knowledge about what is happening around the world and what is good or bad for the great homeland of George Washington. However, generally speaking, much is not known, unfortunately too much.
It is necessary that there be systematic or, better still, methodical information given about what is happening, for example in the Near and the Middle East, not to mention concerns about the rest of the world, although it would indeed be helpful to know what other regions of the universe are doing and thinking. Incidentally, it should be remembered that the Near East is not the same thing as the Middle East, although in that Middle East be the biblical rivers, Euphrates and Tigris.
Bordering the Mediterranean Sea are Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt that historically constitute the Near East, although in recent times, the name Middle East has been applied to the entire region east of the Mediterranean.
In Syria, for the last few months there have been serious disturbances trying to topple its dictatorial regime. Israel is under nuclear threat from Iran, which is in the Middle East, because in spite of all the sanctions and warnings from the United Nations Iran continues set on developing its nuclear program and now, determined to extend its influence to the Western Hemisphere through its ties with the regimes in Venezuela and Cuba.
The American media, as well as centers of general or academic culture should consider it a political obligation to keep the national community well-informed about what is happening, in an open or covert way, and that threaten, to put it mildly, the democracy and freedom that have their main bulwark in the United States of America.
