The Different Ideological
Currents in Each Country
As far as this be possible, in the field of popular information, an effort must be made by those who have influence on the civic and political life of each country so that the greatest number of people, particularly those who can vote, be familiar with the different ideological currents that exist in the country. Of course, when speaking about general knowledge for the people this does not involve any in-depth knowledge. On the contrary, what is needed is that it be a basic instruction that does not confuse, that does not poison spirits, that does not create frustrations or expectations which are incompatible with the realities of each country. In other words, incompatible with the psychological, historic, economic and cultural realities from the traditional point of view of each country.
For example, it should be avoided that peoples from other parts of the globe, such as the Swedes, Germans, or Anglo-Saxon in general, be used as models for peoples who have totally different traditions, who live under different circumstances and who, historically or ethnically, do not coincide with the way in which other nations understand political life, specially those with a long democratic history.
With the basic knowledge about what is a social life with fair and reasonable limits, of what representative democracy is, of what an economic development compatible with the characteristics of each country is, it can be achieved that many people react in favor of political seriousness and be able to choose the party and the leader that would be best for their country. To eliminate confusions and pseudo-doctrinal intoxication –so to speak—should be a patriotic effort of the serious people who are in a position to orient the life of the nation, be it from the essentially political field or that of creating public opinion in general.
Sensible and well-meaning political leaders can do much on behalf of their country. And evil-minded political leaders, but who are clever to deceive with demagoguery and verbal communication skills, could do much harm to their country. Moreover, it should be remembered that there are many individuals who have a positive influence on their respective communities who neither are political leaders nor claim to be experts on political philosophy. They simply are well-meaning individuals who have basic knowledge about what the civic and political life is and who know when to ask those who know more about this, before issuing an opinion.
