We Must Remember
the Isaac Experience
When there are alarming natural phenomena as in the case of Tropical Storm Isaac, that still is not a hurricane, this is an excellent opportunity to test the capacity of society to follow instructions from the authorities and achieve the goal of having less damage and casualties and, summing up, that it be a phenomenon that does not leave a terrible sequel as has happened in the past, especially in South Florida.
It is important to counter those individuals who do not want to attribute any significance to this kind of phenomena and who try to party and defy the elements going out when there is no need to do so, many half dressed and some even naked.
It is advisable to recommend everyone to take advantage of the experiment that a case such as this implies to be prepared for something worse that could happen this year or in the coming years. It is necessary that people do not forget, although in Isaac’s case nothing serious has happened in South Florida, the measures that were taken and which should be considered as obligatory practice for the benefit of all.
There are specific recommendations for individuals or families with health problems that need medicines and special care. These recommendations must not be forgotten and should be always present as a mental exercise for the future, when we have a strong storm or, even worse, a big hurricane. Ignoring this experience because it did not get to the extremes that were expected is foolish, not to use another word, perhaps stupid.
Families that stay in contact when things like this happen should remember what they have gone through and, at the same time, must continue to be prepared for similar events in the future. And, it should be mentioned, that the only nice thing about these hurricanes is, precisely, this closeness among family members or neighbors that often get to know each other when these things happen.
What should be done is thank God because nothing serious happened, and, at the same time ask Him to guide the people in similar cases for the good of all.
