Different Degrees
of Marxism
The classification of communist, communistoid, or just of a marked or radical leftist, can not always be specified when wanting to describe those who serve in political and economic fields, especially the political. Sometimes the word “communist” is used in absolute and firm sense with respect to those who, for one reason or another, should not be classified as such, although they perhaps might want to be communists. In other words, when the word communist is used in an absolute sense in that case, the statement is discredited because for many, with good reason, the individual is not one hundred per cent communist from the doctrinal and temperamental aspects.
A communistoid leans a lot toward communism, but allows margin for a Marxist identification, although it can not always be categorical. The individual who belongs to the radical Left or who is a leftist is perhaps the most dangerous, because without identifying fully with communism he encourages the work of the communists from the field of non-communism. This makes it harder to identify him and at the same time facilitates his helping Marxism to the degree which he likes to practice, which is not necessarily the maximum.
It is advisable to bear in mind these differences because there are individuals who discredit the term communist when they apply it to someone who helps communism, even without realizing that he is doing so. This is the case of a communistoid or an individual with leftist leanings who encourages Marxist activities, and even Leninist activities, with a certain prudence or caution.
On many occasions the confusion stems from good faith, in the sense of individuals who have been influenced by Marxism to some degree, but never totally. However, these are individuals who encourage Marxism believing that its pace and aggressiveness can be controlled at any given moment with a proclamation, a speech, or a public statement. Almost always it is already late or too late to do this.
The different degrees of Marxism must be taken into consideration because those who have it in a very low dose do not pose any specific danger. But if that limited Marxist joins another one who is more Marxist than he is, the combination is very dangerous because it can have a strength or significance that is detrimental for the cause of freedom, without it being possible to openly say that there is a communist conspiracy in full force.
