Mitt Romney for
President of the
United States of America
Debates matter. Within the last few weeks, voters have been able to see President Obama and Governor Romney discuss and argue about the many challenges facing the country. Each has had the opportunity to lay out their proposals to solve the many critical problems we face. Of the two, Mitt Romney presents the best vision and a plan to practically and effectively create jobs in part by lowering taxes for all, particularly small business which creates 80% of new jobs, eliminate the tax on savings, diversify and stimulate energy independence, simplify the tax code and fight terrorism to avoid another tragedy such as the recent terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya. Additionally, immigration reform will finally be up front and center in the national agenda whereby the goal will be a permanent solution to a problem that presents humanitarian, economic and social opportunities for this great nation.
President Barack Obama has tried to deal with the challenges and threats we face. However, despite the fact that Democrats enjoyed total control of Washington D.C. his first two years in office whereby his national agenda was approved without exception, the country is in the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression. Unemployment has been above 8% for 43 months and, although it has dipped to 7.8%, the result has been that 4 million have stopped looking for work, and 23 million are unemployed. Under Obama, 3.5% more women live in poverty, 46 million Americans depend upon food stamps, and the national debt has increased by 6 trillion in less than four years. Access to credit continues to be strained; more than 120 community banks which provide most of the local lending have closed under this administration. Despite two presidential debates and more than a year campaigning for reelection, the President has been unable to coherently explain what he would do differently to lead the country to economic health and security.
Mitt Romney understands the crisis facing the nation and knows how to turn around dismal economic factors. He did it as Governor of Massachusetts where he left the state with 4.7% unemployment and at the top in education. Under his leadership, which included working with a legislature of which 87% were Democrats, he led the charge for health care reform and a balanced budget with billions of dollars in reserves. This is the kind of clear and straightforward thinking the nation needs. As a man of great personal wealth, Mitt Romney has shown great compassion and generosity for those in great economic and spiritual need. In both his personal and public life, Romney is an exemplary figure.
