Ros-Lehtinen, Díaz-Balart and Nelson for the U.S. Congress and Senate
Each state has two federal Senators. Republicans have Marco Rubio and this year Democrat Bill Nelson is running for reelection. There are some who criticize Nelson’s voting for President Obama’s agenda and say that he has not shown leadership, but we see it differently. Bill Nelson is a moderate Democrat and that party needs more moderate voices. As a former astronaut, Nelson understands NASA’s importance not only for Florida but also for the nation. He has been able to work with his Republican colleagues to protect the interests of this state, recently working with Rubio to recover the damages caused by the ecological disaster of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of México.
Although Nelson’s opponent is the Honorable Republican Congressman Connie Mack IV, who has also been a valuable servant of the state of Florida, it is good for a state to have a Senator from each party when good candidates are running. DIARIO LAS AMERICAS recommends voting to reelect Senator Bill Nelson filling-in #23.
Mario Díaz-Balart is an advocate for the residents not only of his District, 25th, but of all Miami-Dade County. A conservative in issues of national defense as well as fiscal issues, Díaz-Balart has won a position of leadership in the Republican Party because of his efforts to reduce federal spending as well as the debt. He understands well the importance of small businesses for the economic health of the nation and that the role of the federal government is to create the environment for these to prosper. Thanks to him, Miami Dade has benefited from funds for the highways that help with our transit problems. DIARIO LAS AMERICAS recommends voting to reelect Mario Díaz-Balart to the U.S. Congress filling-in #25.
Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a Republican that represents District 27 since 1989, has served with courage and intelligence in a bipartisan way without compromising her conservative economic principles. Her defense of human rights is acknowledged internationally, particularly in what concerns Cuba. As President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Ros-Lehtinen has defended the fight for democracy in Venezuela, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Bolivia, and she also has denounced the enormous failures of this Administration in the tragedy in Libya that ended with the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. Miami-Dade County has benefited from her leadership and DIARIO LAS AMERICAS recommends voting to reelect Ileana Ros-Lehtinen to the U.S. Congress filling-in #36.
