The Great Significance of Family Values

Any time is good to comment about family values. These values in many aspects are in crisis and are under attack by laws and by customs using modern technology with the complicity, many times, of large business or manufacturing concerns that sponsor with their very expensive ads the diffusion of customs and norms contrary to morality. Those norms and those customs fundamentally weaken the essences of family life in detriment of society.

It is fair to acknowledge, of course, that there still exist an immense number of traditional families where parents fulfill their obligations in the spiritual aspect as well as with respect to the material support of their homes. Naturally, their offspring are the ones who benefit the most, but also the parents themselves benefit because they enjoy a reasonable minimum –to say the least- of the happiness that is felt in a home where love and peace are present, regardless of economic factors.

The family is the foundation of society. There can be no normal and good society, a normal and good nation, if the families that form it are not good as well. This does not mean that absolute perfection, or anything like it, be achievable, although it would be desirable. Absolute perfection corresponds only to God.

Something must be done to check the current disguised under numerous excuses that aims to undermine the foundation of family life. Moreover, nowadays efforts are being made to break the moral, historic, and juridical concept of what the institution of marriage is. And when not this case, there are other aspects that attack the normality of families when the parents hardly ever see their children and there is no basic coordination between the home and the school. In the formation of school-age children, the home as well as the school is an important factor. However, some say that it is not the duty of the schools to teach their students how to be decent individuals because that should be taught at home. Even when at home the parents might know how to form their children, this does not necessarily mean that they have the time that is indispensable to influence their education –which is formation- cooperating with what the schools should also teach besides academic subjects.
